🥊You.com coming for Google Did we tell you over a year ago? We/all us "you"s need to engage and have our "seat at the table." Google at long last is getting more competition and it's coming from companies looking to protect our personal information and privacy as users of the internet. You.com is the next at bat to take market share from Google.
It's founder, Richard Socher is a former Salesforce chief scientist, and his goal is dominate the internet market. It's designed to make scrolling faster than Google and more private than DuckDuckGo. Last week it raised $25 million in Series A funding that involved Radical Ventures, Breyer Capital, Norwest Venture Partners, and Day One Ventures. The technology startup now has about $45 million to provide fast, safe, and secure internet access to the world, including $20 million from its seed round held last fall. Will it go public?
📈Google stock split on July 18, 2022 For only the second time in history, Google (Alphabet- GOOGL) had a stock split of 20:1. Those with 10 stock shares now have 200 stocks after the split. The price per share of stock before the split was over $2,200. As of July 24, the price is about $109/share.
The first time the stock spilt was in April 2014, and the price per share was over $1,100.

🏘️Prefab fab Architects Jared Levy and Gordon Stott have been building homes for California's rich and famous since 2004. Their award-winning work had graced the covers of Dwell, Time, Newsweek, and Builder. Their designs were also the first modern prefab homes published in Architectural Digest.
But their dream were unfulfilled. Jared and Gordon also wanted to address California's housing crisis that affects mostly middle and low-class citizens. They founded Los Angeles-based, Connect Homes which has constructed over 80 sustainable prefabs across California, ranging from single-family homes to big houses up to 3,200 square feet. With former Apple executive Greg Leung as its CEO, Connect Homes aims to transform the U.S. homebuilding industry with affordable, modern, and sustainable prefabs. The company has raised over $27 million in funding, including a $5 million investment from Brick & Mortar Ventures.
🍁Hemp farming is safe in North Carolina It was great news for North Carolina's hemp industry on June 30 when Gov. Roy Cooper signed a House bill to remove hemp from North Carolina's drug laws. North Carolina's hemp industry has operated since 2015 under a pilot hemp program, but remained illegal under the state's drug laws. The industry averted shutting down on July 1.
North Carolina's Senate voted to keep the industry running a day before Gov. Cooper signed the legislation. "Agriculture is North Carolina's largest industry, and giving North Carolina farmers certainty that they can continue to participate in this growing (hemp) market is the right thing to do for rural communities and our economy," Gov. Cooper said.
North Carolina was the sixth-largest U.S. hemp producer in 2021. The NC's hemp industry stakeholders now look to keep developing the industry as a rotation crop or replacement crop to tobacco.
🤑Greener Earth and green jobs Green jobs across the U.S. energy sector spiked in 2021, according to the 2022 U.S. Energy and Employment Report (USEER) the U.S. Department of Energy released last week. Jobs in the EV and hybrid vehicle sectors increased by over 124.9% compared to 2020. The renewable electricity generation sector also saw about a 20.3% job increase. Conversely, jobs within the fossil fuel and nuclear energy sectors dropped significantly, as signs that the energy sector is greening.
Overall, the U.S. energy sector added more than 300,000 jobs in 2021, about a 4% increase from 2020 and more than the total U.S. employment growth of 2.8% last year.
