👇Twitter and Musk Will Elon step down? The final vote is in, and Musk must abide and must step down as CEO of Twitter.
However, on his feed he made these two posts: "No one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive. There is no successor." Then he added: "I will resign as CEO as soon as I find someone foolish enough to take the job! After that, I will just run the software & servers teams." Is this a bait and switch?
🎄Live tree for next year? The average American family buys a Christmas tree during Christmas every year, which often ends up in landfills after, polluting the environment and destroying the climate. But wait, there's an environmentally-focused option. Renting A Christmas Tree has been providing an eco-friendly alternative in Central California.
The family-owned business grows Christmas trees and rents them to people during the holidays, which they can keep for up to 30 days. They prioritize customers' convenience by offering delivery and pickup services, mainly in the San Francisco South Bay Area, Santa Cruz, Monterey Peninsula, and Salinas.
💥Razor thin solar cells About six years ago, a team of ONE Lab nanotechnologists tried to develop an ultra-thin solar cell that performs many times better than the standard large-size solar panels. Ideally, one that could be easily deployed anywhere and on any surface. The technology was mesmerizing, but scaling up its production was financially challenging. MIT engineers announced that they have now solved that problem.
The scientists have produced lightweight solar fabrics, using nanomaterials in printable ink. The modified ultra-thin solar technology weighs about 100 times less than conventional solar panels while generating 18 times more power per kilogram. The cells even have a much longer lifespan. In the result published in Small Methods, the researchers said they have started developing packaging solutions for the cells. So let's expect the technology on the market soon, maybe a solar sail!
⚡2023 and home solar battery storage Solar panels usually generate more renewable energy during the day than at night. Therefore, you may be out of power most nights if you only rely on solar energy. Solar storage battery systems offer enormous benefits over other energy supply options like the grid and generators. Besides being an effective backup option during peak demand times, storage battery systems are eco-friendlier, not forgetting that they will help you save money on electricity.
Nearly one-third of Australian households presently use solar power and battery storage, the highest rate in the world. The U.S. is also trying to catch up. Sunrun, the leading residential solar installer in the country, said in August that the number of households requesting energy storage outpaced its capacity.
🪵Creative green home Since building its first robotically-fabricated structure in 2015, Studio RAP has not stopped winning awards in home construction in the Netherlands. The Dutch architectural firm has been exploring home construction with sustainable materials. It completed its first sustainable private home recently, and built the house on top of the water in the historical city of Leiden (NL).
This sustainable home called “the Float" is unlike many existing prefabs that are usually small in size and made from hempcrete, steel, or wood. Instead, the primary materials for this building are bio-based timber and plant-based cork, which, like other sustainable construction materials, gives the building a significantly low carbon footprint. RAP’s construction technique also enabled using much less timber in constructing the home than in building conventional homes. The company's goal is to keep transforming the sustainable housing industry.
