🛸A bird? No, it's Walmart Is the sky falling in the Dallas-Ft Worth area? Kinda. Walmart has been testing drone delivery in more rural parts of Texas, such as Frisco and Lewisville, and now the retail giant will be offering drone delivery to the metro area of D-FW. Walmart has chosen two FAA approved drone delivery companies as partners this new "drop-shopping" experience.
One partner is California-based, Wing Aviation LLC, the first drone company approved by the FAA to operate a delivery service for a US metro area. Wing is owned by Alphabet, the parent company of Google. Walmart's other drone delivery partner is California-based, Zipline.

😠Damn plastics They never biodegrade, they kill marine life, they overburden landfills. Plastics are very convenient and are also the bane of all life on Earth. Within the last few years, microplastics (MPs), were discovered and identified as small and toxic at a microscopic level. Now scientists have found nanoplastics (NPs) which are even smaller and more toxic.
The ubiquitous (plastic) bottled water was the subject of a study by toxicologists. They found that 90% of microscopic plastic particles are nanoplatics. Since they are smaller than microplastics, they find their way into vital systems more easliy. According to the study, they found that 10 million nanoplastics can fill a space of less than 1/2 inch.
📉Crank down your plastic habit It might not be easy, but your digestive, nervous and respiratory systems will thank you: reduce your consumption of water from plastic water bottles. Remember, only a very small fraction of plastic is being recycled, so the more we use, the more there will be forever. The best advice is to avoid plastic! Why not start by keeping plastic water bottles out of you life?
📉Aldi drops plastic habit Aldi is a German-based grocery outlet that can be found in 18 countries and counting. Known for sparse interiors to save costs and keep prices low, Aldi appeals to the economical shopper. Aldi's CEO, Jason Hart said:
“As one of America’s fastest-growing retailers, we take our responsibility to lead the industry in sustainability seriously, so our customers don’t have to choose between shopping responsibly and saving money.”
Aldi is now eliminating the plastic bag completely. This greener grocer aims to have all their packaging in either recyclable or compostable or reusable materials by 2025.
🍁Cannabis in Rhode Island The smallest state in the US is making huge sales in legalized cannabis. Adult use cannabis sales were first allowed on December 1, 2022. In that first year, sales exceeded $100 million. The average transaction was slightly over $26, and with a population just over 1 million, it is clear that legalized cannabis is a huge success for the Ocean State.
🧺There are better laundry options The microplastics (MPs) that are appearing in our lives come from plastic packaging and other materials such as synthetic clothing fibers. Friction when laundering your clothes causes more microplastics to be created, so try doing less laundry. Use cold water temperature whenever possible, and use laundry strips/sheets, instead liquid detergent. Add a water filter to your washing machine to eliminate almost 90% of MPs.
Stay Curious... Who are we?
Fun question of the day:
