🥪Bite on that! With a vegetarian mother and conversationalist father from the densely forested northwest region of Mexico, Maciel Bañales Luna said these things influenced her education, career, and new venture immensely. She just opened LA's first-ever plant-based butcher shop and deli with the help of her husband, Joe Egender, and business partner, Dustin Lancaster. As a nutritionist and vegan, Bañales Luna understood what her kind had been longing for; plant-based meats made fresh that are more tasty and healthier than animal options.
Maciel's plant-based butcher shop and deli offers turkey, bacon, pastrami, salami, chicharrones, and chorizo that are legume-based and high in protein, vitamins, and fiber. The shop's spreadable cheese menu delights with cashew-based camembert, nacho, and jalapeno cheddar. It is located in Highland Park and is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesdays through Sundays.

🍄Meati going strong Meati Foods is one of those plant-based startups that will revolutionize the global meat industry. Meati's whole-cut meats, made of 95% mushroom roots, contain more protein, dietary fiber, vitamins, and minerals than the traditional animal meat. The vegan startup has been selling out online since February with its whole-cut alternate meat and Mycelium alternate chicken.
Now Meati is ready to drive an offline presence with the massive $150 million investment from its latest Series C funding. The Colorado-based company will use the new funding to complete its Mega Ranch facility, and expand its U. S. production and retail footprint. Meati CEO, Tyler Huggins, wants the vegan brand to reach 10,000 U.S. households by 2023. They're hiring!
🏍️Electric motorcycle concept Here's a visionary's version of a Tesla electric motorcycle. Ozzie Small's studio joins luxury and creativity in the NUPO concept e-sports bike. Would you ride it?
🤑Big score for Boise, Idaho The U.S. has relied on other countries to supply most of its microchips used in cars, computers, cell phones, and all electronics. However, Idaho-based Micron Technology Inc, (ticker symbol "MU" on Nasdaq Exchange) is now poised to rewrite the narrative for America. The company announced last week that it will invest $15 billion by 2030 to expand its manufacturing plant in Idaho’s capital in order to double its production of the technology devices.
The announcement came weeks after President Biden signed the CHIPS and Science Act, which provides grants and credits for the industry. It's designed to foster local production and align with a circular economy. Micron expects the project to create up to 17,000 jobs for Americans.
🏆EV Equinox for around $30K GM’s gas-powered Chevrolet Equinox SUV broke market records for the company. Hoping for the same result in the EV market, the Detroit automaker has launched an electric version of the SUV. GM unveiled the Chevrolet Equinox EV on September 8, while announcing that the EV will sell at a base price of around $30,000.
But the price isn’t the only thing great about the Chevy Equinox. GM is also powering the EV with its next-generation Ultium electric vehicle platform enabling advanced-level technologies and capabilities, such as hands-free driving on 400,000 miles of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada. In addition, the EV will come in several models with up to 300 miles of range. GM will start producing them in 2023, with sales expected to begin the same year.
