🦅Ute traditions for all For centuries, the Ute tribe in Utah has thrived with traditional medicine and sustainable cultural practices, guided by its independent government, called the Ute Indian Tribe Business Committee. The tribe has now developed that plant-based knowledge and practice into a medicinal and sustainable industrial hemp venture called Ute Hemp LLC. They have collaborated with the non-profit Native Workplace and Wisconsin-based Luminary Medicine Co.
The indigenous hemp company produces a range of sustainable, USDA/FDA-approved, medicinal CBDs and CBGs, along with a line of industrial finished hemp products, including hemp-crete, hemp fabrics, comforters, and pillows, available on http://utehemp.com/.

🧘Yoga brand leans into crypto Alo Yoga, a U.S. fashion and wellness brand, launched into Web3 earlier this year and brought mindfulness and digital fashion to the metaverse. The company will start accepting crypto payments on its e-commerce site too. On June 22, Alo Yoga announced that its employees can now choose to have their wages paid to them in crypto.
In a press statement, the CEO said, "We always want to be ahead of the curve. Activating in the metaverse was that first step for us. Enabling crypto payments take it even further, introducing a real-world connection to Web3, something we find more and more of our customers are interested in." The brand is also unveiling an NFT collection ahead of New York Fashion Week in September, along with a corresponding apparel line.
🧵Gucci goes crypto Kering is the parent company that owns Gucci, and the brand is looking be pioneers in crypto transactions, NFTs and Web3. At a press conference in June, a representative said: "Luxury has a role to play. There's a real opportunity for us to create digital products that would be ways to express our houses."
In the May 9 issue of AGREEN1, we mentioned Katie Haun's $1.5 billion VC company, Haun Ventures which will focus on crypto, NFTs and Web3; and Kerig is one of Haun Ventures investors. Accordingly, Gucci plans to accept crypto payments in U.S. stores soon. Kerig's digital officer Grégory Boutté believes that, “Cryptocurrencies are no longer niche; approximately 150 million people have crypto.”

😮Ethereum miners no longer needed? For years, Ethereum developers have considered greening the crypto network. Last year they revealed that for Ethereum to prosper, developers must cut down the carbon footprint. Using proof-of-stake and not proof-of-work will reduce their electric consumption by over 95% and it will also make the Ethereum network more secure. They call it "the Merge," but several factors stopped them from introducing it earlier. One is that it will affect crypto miners, and miners have been fighting to make sure Ethereum developers forgo the Merge.
Bloomberg predicts about a million miners will be affected by the Merge. Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin confirmed in May that the Merge will come in August or October at the latest.
