☀️Solar eclipse It happened... the annual solar eclipse occurred on Saturday, October 14. Did you see it? Here is link to watch in case you missed it! The next solar eclipse will be a total eclipse. That will happen on April 8, 2024. Mark your calendars for it as it there won't be another total Eclipse for twenty years!
👀Transparency required Back on Earth, climate accountability made it's way to the governor of California's desk. The Climate Corporate Data Accountability Act (SB 253) and the Climate-Related Financial Risk Act (SB 261) are bills that were approved by the legislature and signed into law on October 7 by Governor Newsom.
The bills affect firms who operate in California and whose annual revenue is over $1 billion, to disclose the green house gas emissions they cause directly and indirectly. Also, firms that generate over $500 million in annual revenue will be required to release "climate-related financial risk reports biennially, beginning in 2026." California is the fifth largest economy on the planet. Think about the impact these will have.
Governor Newsom and Attorney General Bonta sued big oils companies in September for their damage to the environment and Californiana. See the AGREEN1 September 18 issue for more details.

🎉50K for Tesla Not entirely a new way to sip, but certainly a more sustainable one. Leading the way on the EV front, Tesla recently hit two high milestones. The 50,000th supercharging station was installed. The beautiful red charging unit is located in Roseville California at 1851 Freedom Way. Tesla also produced its 5 millionth Tesla! A pretty pearl white Model 3 at a gigafactory in China.
The IRS has changed the way consumers get the $7,500 tax credit starting January 1, 2024. Consumers will see a price reduction when they buy the car, and no longer as a tax credit when filing Federal taxes. The EV giant also reduced leasing prices for Model 3 and Model Y by 21%. 2024 could be the greatest year to buy that Tesla!
👨⚖️Utah sues TikTok Social media giant, TikTok is being sued by the state of Utah. The state contends that the social media platform is damaging children. It is applying research that's shown that children are twice as likely to become depressed, and suffer other mental health disorders, if they are on social media more than 3 hours daily.
In March, Utah was the first U.S. state to pass legislation that limits minors's use and access to social media. The law will become effective in 2024. In terms of TikTok specifically, Utah's Attorney General Reyes claims that the platform intentionally "hooks" children by using algorithms to provide endless content that is very addictive for children. Six other U.S. states are planning to file similar suits, while Montana passed a law to ban TikTok in their state. The U.S. Supreme Court will be deciding is states can regulate any social media platforms.

🦅Brave new skies In 2024, for just $190K, you can own electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing vehicle or eVTOL. Looks like Pivotal will be the first to market with the eVTOL called The Pivotal Helix. It's a one passenger electric aerial vehicle (EAV). As such, it cannot go faster than 63 mph and it does not require a pilot's license to operate.
Meanwhile, last month, Joby delivered their eVTOL taxi to Edwards Airforce Base as part of their $131 million contract with the Dept of Defense. Next time you look up at the sky, it may not be a bird or a plane, but an eVTOL.
Stay Curious... Who are we?
Fun question of the day:
Should social media be regulated?
Who are we?
