‼️Test your solar knowledge The world is on the way to decarbonization, and solar technology currently accounts for about 4% of global energy generation, with the installed solar capacity nearly doubling from 2017 to 2020. Now that the world looks to make solar its largest electricity source by 2026, here are so interesting talking points.
French physicist, Edmond Becquerel, first discovered solar electricity and photovoltaic cells in 1839. Nearly 100 years later in 1954, scientists at Bell Labs in the United States developed the first silicon photovoltaic cell, also called a solar panel. Solar is currently the third-largest source of renewable electricity, and China, the U.S., Japan, and Germany lead the global solar market. The applications of solar power have also expanded to the auto industry. For example, Lightyear, Aptera and Sono Motors have developed solar EVs.
Solar has health benefits too. It decrease respiratory problems, asthma, bronchitis, and cardiovascular problems: issues ofter prevent people from going to work to earn a living. Now that you know more about solar technology, will you join in the effort to green Earth?

⁉️When will Meta stop? Meta, which is Facebook's parent company, has faced more than four legal actions because of its misconduct with Facebook and Instagram, accompanied by a series of privacy violation reports. Now, a new study by privacy researcher Felix Krause, a former Google engineer on the technology company, reveals another privacy concern.
On August 10, Krause reported that Meta has been injecting a tracking code into links to third-party websites on its Facebook and Instagram apps. This allows the tech company to follow users who click on links and to monitor their activities on the external websites. The practice, called JavaScript Injection, is a malicious attack often used to collect people’s sensitive data. Meta has claimed that the JavaScript Injection only uses the practice to aggregate data needed for targeted advertising. We advise you to play it safe.
👏The art of electric cooking It is no secret that restaurants are major contributors to climate change. They are responsible for 30% of the world’s greenhouse gas emissions, mostly in their kitchens. Nearly all restaurants worldwide use gas-burning stoves that emit dangerous gases and chemicals that affect not only the environment but also the mental health and wellbeing of kitchen workers often exposed to them.
Christopher Galarza, a renowned chef who has worked in numerous commercial kitchens, was also the sous chef at Carnegie Mellon University and Chatham University’s Eden Hall Campus. Chef Chris suffered the impact for many years, at times feeling like he was suffocating. Now he's on a mission to decarbonize commercial kitchens in America. He has founded a company called Forward Dining Solutions, which is dedicated to promoting environmentally friendly, electric-powered induction stoves. Galarza also aims to get homes to buy into the cleaner cooking alternative also.
🤞Big, bold move by the golden state The Advanced Clean Cars II, presented to the California Air Resources Board on June 9, got approved on last week. The rule, introduced to address air quality and climate change, mandates that all new cars and trucks introduced in California must be zero emissions by 2035. Gov. Gavin Newsom touted $10 billion in state investments to pave the road for affordability and convenience for Californians to purchase EVs. Zero emissions cars, including plug-ins and EVs, currently make up 16% of all new car sales in California.
Under the mandate, EVs must have a range not less than 150 miles on a single charge and maintain at least 80% of that original range over ten years, starting in 2030, a year earlier than initially proposed. All EV batteries must also be more durable and carry a manufacturer’s warranty. The state will also leverage EV federal funding provided under the Inflation Reduction Act and other incentives to achieve the goal.
