🌎Planet vs. Plastics That's the theme for Earth Day 2024, which is the 54th Earth Day celebration. Remember, we all live here and we must all do our part, if not everyday, how about on Earth Day. Look into how you can get involved in an environmental clean up activity this coming weekend. Also look into getting rid of 50%-100% of the plastics in your personal life.
You can change out all your plastic bags with cloth bags. When you shop, look for products packaged in paper, or glass. If it's not, just don't buy it. That includes food! You'll probably lose some weight and feel even more marvelous. When buying new clothes, stay away from fabrics made from petroleum materials: acrylic, polyester and nylon. Best to look for garments made from wool, organic cotton, bamboo, hemp, and tercel lyocell (made from eucalyptus trees). #LeaningForward
🧼Clean and sustainable Plenty of surfers know about filth that floats around in our oceans. They see first hand the damage that plastics cause marine life. They also need to wash the ocean out of their hair after surfing and most have chosen to avoid shampoos in plastic containers. The logical choice is to ditch plastic and use a bar of shampoo.
Dip or Dipalready is a company that has partnered with the preeminent protector of the ocean environment, the SurfRider Foundation. They sell color-safe shampoo bars, conditioner bars and more. With a 30-day money back guarantee on your first purchase, it's worth looking into. They are 100% concerned with sustainability, and are "taking a stand: small business, small retailers, small steps, small changes."
✈️It's not a bird or a plane It's a Joby! The California-based eVTOL (electric vertical takeoff and landing) air mobility company is now in many parts of the world: Marina and San Carlos in California, Washington, D.C., Munich, Germany and Dayton, Ohio.
For more than a decade, Joby has formed various partnerships with NASA, Uber, Toyota, US Air Force and Delta Airlines. In 2021, Joby made its initial public offering (IPO) and listed on the NYSE stock exchange with the symbol: JOBY. It will make a highly visible appearance at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. Production of 500 eVTOLs per year will happen in Dayton, Ohio where Joby has a 140-acre site at the Dayton Airport. With the $500 million manufacturing plant, Joby will need 2,000 employees. Yes, they are hiring!

👏Safer Insulation Here comes another green company that sees a smart way to reuse and repurpose materials. With DIY home projects so popular, home owners who will be installing insulation need to remember that fire retardants and fiberglass insulation can be harmful when fibers are inhaled.
Insulation in older homes can have asbestos, so thank goodness newer companies such as CleanFibers are making insulation from used cardboards boxes. It keeps the boxes out of landfills and they are safe to use. The Maine-based eco-friendly company was using old newspapers to make its insulation, but with the ever-dwindling number of printed newspapers, they have made the pivot to used cardboard boxes from the likes of Amazon. Yes, they are hiring!
