👎Dirty filthy coal UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says coal's a ‘stupid investment’ and we’re ‘sleepwalking to climate catastrophe,' He has condemned the actions and inactions of some governments and private corporations that facilitate climate change. Keep it coming!
In a report sent to the Economist’s Sustainability Week, Guterres disclosed that many governments have failed on their climate commitment and that climate change is entering a catastrophic stage. Revealing that coal emissions have reached a record high, Guterres challenged governments to speed up their efforts to shift toward green energy to enable the world to meet its climate target of 1.5 degrees Celsius.
🤔We the people Despite the current efforts by many governments and companies to address climate change, the world may still reach a critical climate point, the UN has warned. A recent report published by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change revealed that some governments and corporations have failed to keep their climate promises since the 2015 Paris Accord and lamented the world is on the path to becoming unlivable. The UN will hold its next climate summit, COP27, in Egypt this fall.
🌾Getting smart with ag Californian Agricultural Energy Consumers Association has introduced a Climate Smart Agricultural Program. The AECA—comprising local farmers, ranchers, and food producers—intends to advance climate-smart agricultural practices to cut down greenhouse gas emissions in California’s agricultural sector and help the state meet its climate goals.
The Climate Smart Agricultural Program focuses on reducing carbon footprint in the agricultural sector, increasing productivity and efficiency, and enhancing food security. This is a forward-leaning solution.
🚘Scoot over Lyft and Uber Uber and Lyft may have established themselves in the mobility service industry, but three new providers are out to challenge them. Alto and Kaptyn have introduced fleets of company-owned EVs to the road. Revels plans to do the same, and that means less noise, more comfort, and zero carbon emissions.
Alto and Kaptyn are already operating in some parts of the U.S., and Revel will soon.
