🎉Modular home construction It's finally happening. South Carolina-based Greystar Properties is going for it. Greystar launched in 1993, the real estate company is hitting its stride with $224 billion in global assets. Their next chapter will include modular housing for affordable housing apartments.
In order to execute the plan, Greystar purchased a factory in Knox, Pennsylvania to construct their apartment buildings. The factory is called Modern Living Solutions, or MLS. Their first site is in Pennsylvania scheduled to open in June 2024. Their second and third sites will be in Maryland. To truly be affordable, annual rents will not go over the Consumer Price Index or 3%, whichever is greater.
They built their first multi-story modular housing projects in the UK in 2015 and 2018. With this experience, they fell confident that the time has finally come. Almost two years ago the Biden Administration created policies to ease the burden of housing costs for big and small scale projects. With so much need, support, initiative, and innovation we wholeheartedly wish Greystar enormous success.
🪟Can wood replace glass? Is transparent wood a usable product? Not yet but a handful of scientists are exploring it again after 30 years. I won't be as crystal clear as glass, but it will be stronger and have more thermal capacity to retain inside temperatures. Making wood transparent has other applications.
If wood can replace most plastic products, that would be more environmentally beneficial. Plastic is created from petroleum. Burning fossil fuels is harmful to the environment as it emits greenhouse gases. Plastics do not biodegrade and remain pollutants on Earth forever.

🌬️Victory in New York Did you know that New York has an established wind farm? South Fork Wind made history earlier this month as the first utility company in U.S. federal waters to provide clean wind power to the grid. Congratulations to the Big Apple!
New York states wants to be a leader for an orderly and just transition that creates family-sustaining jobs, continues to foster a green economy across all sectors..." New York's goal is to achieve a zero-emission electricity sector by 2040.
🪨Hot rock are making gains Hot rocks sound about as low tech as it gets. But wait, they are being heated by photovoltaics that are in turn being energized by the sun. They are so hot that they are hotter than the melting point of steel, over 3,000 degrees Fahrenheit.
Antora Energy in Fresno, California was co-founded by Andrew Ponec. He grew up fascinated with the challenge of creating renewable energy while in middle school. Now he is one of the leading experts in "heat batteries". Accepting the status quo, especially when it was created by so few with everything to gain is being upended, finally! Analysts believe this will be a multi-trillion dollar industry in the future.
