🌱Hemp to the rescue AGREEN1 has covered forever chemicals (PFAS), and explained how planting hemp to clean up and remediate the toxic soil has been successful in Maine, and New York. Now Michigan will be using this remarkable plant to remove PFAS found at decommissioned K.I. Sawyer AFB.
A team of scientists and researchers at Northern Michigan University conducted the study which demonstrated the effectiveness. Chemistry Prof. Lesley Putman led the team and plans to continue the research with field studies to measure how much the root system remediates the soil.
🌞Space solar energy leans forward It happened just as it was designed to, thanks to an entrepreneur and a lot of scientists at CalTech. The January 16 issue of AGREEN1 covered the grand idea of harvesting solar energy from space and wirelessly beaming that power source to Earth. CalTech announced that on March 3, wireless power transfer occurred. Entrepreneur turned philanthropist, Donald Bren provided the goals and funds to make this happen.
MAPLE (Microwave Array for Power-transfer Low-orbit Experiment) has successfully transmitted power to receivers in space, and team leader, Ali Hajimiri, and his crew at CalTech are elated. He said; "We have also been able to program the array to direct its energy toward Earth, which we detected here at Caltech. We had, of course, tested it on Earth, but now we know that it can survive the trip to space and operate there."
If all goes according to the scientists plans, the problem of supplying unlimited, clean energy to every part of the globe will be solved. It's a race for time as our mother Earth continues to heat up and trigger major environmental catastrophes for all life on Earth.

👏Now it's four and maybe more Tesla has been crowned the king of EV charging. See the June 19 issue of AGREEN1 for details on how this happened. As of today, four "mobility" manufactures are already all in with Tesla's charging networks, and will also adopt the NACS plug. Ford, GM, Rivian and Polestar/Volvo have agreed to adopt Tesla's charging technology.
Three other mobility manufacturers are considering adoption as well: Hyundai, Stellantis, and, Volkswagen. Those three alone represent 27 auto brands. If they agree, this will create a tipping point for universal acceptance that Tesla is the global standard charging network.
🚁Air worthiness certification Less than a week ago, Joby Aviation, the all-electric air mobility company, received its Special Airworthiness Certificate. Joby is developing eVTOLs (electric vertical takeoff and landing) aircrafts to be used as air taxis. Finally Joby can begin testing this amazing prototype of zero emission aviation.
It's been almost 2 years when AGREEN1 covered Joby in the August 23, 2021 issue. It will be the first company to deliver such a vehicle to a customer. Joby aims to complete the order to Edwards Air Force Base in California in a $131 million contract.
Joby partnered with Delta Airlines to be the short trips operator of a seamless, zero-emissions, eVTOL transport from New York and Los Angeles airports to be offered to premium Delta customers in 2025. “This is a groundbreaking opportunity for Delta to deliver a time-saving, uniquely premium home-to-airport solution for customers in key markets we’ve been investing and innovating in for many years.” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian.
