🤖UK AI Safety Summit A two-day summit on AI unfolded on November 1 near London. While the topic and concern are highly relevant to every person across the globe, there are still far too many wrinkles to iron out. Some tech companies have developed AI that threatens national security. Elon Musk reported in his interview that AI robots could replace the human workforce. What appears to be holding back impactful legislation and regulations is the proper balance between safety for all life on earth and retarding innovation.
The EU has been crafting an AI regulation framework which will be completed by the end of 2024. Their legislation is concerned with reviewing and approving AI technologies, such as ChatGPT prior to release. This promises to be a strong first step. President Biden signed an AI Executive Order on Oct 30:
"The Executive Order establishes new standards for AI safety and security, protects Americans’ privacy, advances equity and civil rights, stands up for consumers and workers, promotes innovation and competition, advances American leadership around the world, and more." A global solution is the ideal goal.
🛑GM's Cruise not rolling well Driverless cars won approval to "test the waters" by the California legislature in August. Now Cruise, owned by GM, has been curbed. Too many accidents and a safety risk overall. At the same time, Waymo's autonomous taxis are less dangerous. The company id owned by tech giant Google (Alphabet).
Is Cruise less successful because these new vehicles are more tech than mechanical? Is Musk correct that AI robots will replace the human workforce?

🎢Smart and fun California is tickled that the state's largest solar power project will be at Six Flags Magic Mountain Amusement Park. The design is a 637,000-square-foot solar carport. This keeps the cars of employees and amusement park guests cool and safe. According to a press release, the 20.8 million kilowatt hours of clean energy it will produce will in fact reduce GHG emissions, equivalent to removing over 910 million miles of ICE cars from the roads.
The Texas-based amusement company has two other parks with solar carports, making it the most extensive on-site solar collection system in the United States. The two other sites are in Jackson, New Jersey, and Vallejo, California. As an operator of 27 parks in 3 countries, this development is good, clean and fun!
😴CBD improves sleep The CBD study that was published on September 27 in the National Institutes of Health (NIH) demonstrated that CBD improves sleep quality. The researchers recommend 50 mg of CBD for 8 weeks taken orally 60-90 minutes before bedtime.
Moreover, the authors of the clinical study stated; “We provide evidence that daily CBD supplementation for eight weeks enhances NK [Natural Killer] cell cytotoxicity against a malignant human leukemic cancer cell line. Collectively, these data suggest that eight weeks of CBD supplementation enhances perceived sleep and improves systemic immunosurveillance through the enhancement of NK cell cytotoxic function.”
