👍Rivian truck R1T and SUV, R1S coming soon It was spotted and photographed at the electric vehicle area of the Ventura Street Fair on the Fourth of July. Many curious folks had impressive comments on it, and the R1T in fact won the 2022 MotorTrend Truck of the Year Award. For those who are interested in owning a R1T, simply go to reservations and make a $1,000 deposit.
Rivian's new electric SUV, the R1S was test driven by a CNN reporter. He had rave reviews. The SUV is both luxurious and rugged, and has a third-seat row that makes it perfect for off-road trips with family and friends. It can go from a stop to 60 mph in 3 seconds, it plows over boulders and can easily drive through three feet of moving water. The R1S has more incredible features, including a big screen that controls most of its performance. The price of the R1S EV starts at $95,000. Yes, they're accepting reservations for delivery in late 2023.

🌞Aptera, the solar EV The California-based "solar" EV company, Aptera already has 25,000 reservations at $100 each for its solar-powered EV. With a factory in San Diego, it will start delivering initial production of their solar EVs later this year. First, however, the company said it would use the initial EV customers' feedback to make any final changes to the design before mass-producing.
Aptera has also shared that it will utilize autonomous robots by equipment manufacturer RedViking during the assembly process for efficiency in the production of its flagship solar EV. Their goal is to manufacture 600,000 Apteras every year with a price tag beginning at $26,000. The AGREEN1 March 15, 2021 issue has a few more details.
⚠️Caution with socal media apps The social media app called TikTok went viral during the Covid lockdown period beginning in 2020. But could the popular tech app be granting the Chinese government access to data about its users? According to Buzzfeed News, engineers in China accessed U.S. users' data between September 2021 and January 2022. Brendan Carr, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Commissioner, is urging the leaders of Apple and Google to ban TikTok from their app stores.
🏆First ever winners in cannabis at California State Fair In the October 4, 2021 issue of AGREEN1, we shared news of the first-ever cannabis competition at the California Exhibition & State Fair. Over 300 cannabis farmers and vendors in the Golden Statesubmitted their plants for evaluation from November 1, 2021, to March 30, 2022. Winnerswere announced June 23, which was later than expected.
The evaluation was science-based, across three divisions: indoor, mixed-light, and outdoor. A spokesperson said: “Our cannabis competition evaluates raw, whole plant cannabis compound categories including three primary acidic cannabinoids, THCa/CBDa/CBGa, and six terpenes, Limonene, Pinene, Myrcene, Caryophyllene, Ocimene, and Terpinolene, and one co-dominant terpene profile."
The Fair awarded 60 winners, including Esensia, Greenshock Farms, Naughty Squirrel Farms, MOCA Humboldt, Humo, and Harborside. The Fair will showcase all award winners at the Cal Expo Fairgrounds in Sacramento, California July 15-31.
😮SCOTUS won't rule on cannabis The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to rule on a case on whether employers should reimburse employees for their medical cannabis expenses through their workers' compensation insurance plans.
State supreme courts in Connecticut, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, and New York ruled in 2021 that employers should reimburse employees for their medical cannabis costs. While those in Maine, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Florida, North Dakota, Ohio, and Washington prohibited the practice. NORML, a cannabis advocacy organization—and the Hudson Valley cannabis industries—asked the Supreme Court to intervene in December 2021. But the Supreme Court dropped the case last week, based on the advice from the Justice Department to let the Congress or executive decide on the matter.
