🧑✈️Air Taxis coming to the Golden State As the song goes, about a week ago, California-based Archer Aviation, ticker symbol ACHR, and Southwest Airlines, ticker symbol LUV signed an Memorandum of Understanding to use Archer's electric air taxis in 14 California airports.
Electric air taxis, also called eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) aircraft have been covered by AGREEN1 for many years, and this 21st Century mode of mobility is almost here. In a press release, the team explained: the aircraft is designed to transform urban travel, replacing 60-to-90-minute commutes by car with estimated 10-to-20-minute electric air taxi flights.
Archer has received all the proper approvals from the FAA and is moving into the Implementation Phase. Following this final phase, Archer hopes to receive full FAA certification in 2025. Archer is also working with United Airlines to supply them air taxis.
🇫🇷Paris Olympics with air taxi pad on Seine The long awaited approval came on July 9. A floating landing pad will be construction on the Seine River for the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics. If all goes as planned, the landing pad will be removed soon after Dec 31, 2024.
Paris already has four "vertiports" for eVTOLs in the suburbs, and this will be the first inside the city proper. Accordingly, flights cannot exceed two per hour between 8AM to 5PM only. It will be a great opportunity to witness these new vehicles in action.

🚁Saudia Group orders air taxis The big score for German air taxi manufacturer, Lilium, came on July 18 with their largest order to date. Saudia Group is a state-owned airline and it ordered 50 eVTOLs shuttle jets from Lilium with the option to order 50 more. The first order is expected to be filled by 2029.
Saudi Arabia is a country with tremendous wealth from petroleum and it is making big efforts to diversify its economic revenue streams, and become more sustainable. It has a goal to invite tourism to the country and these air taxis will be used to those ends in alignment with SA's Vision 2030.

👕Slow fashion caucus From our lips to their ears! There is now a US Congressional Slow Fashion Caucus. The group formed in June and is lead by Congresswoman Chellie Pingree (D-Maine), Reps. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (D-Wash.) and Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-Calif.).
Their aim is to curb fast fashion pollution through climate-smart policies. The Members are joined by sustainable fashion industry leaders and stakeholders, including Patagonia, ThredUp, American Circular Textiles, the Garment Worker Center and more.
Other participating US Representatives are: Julia Brownley (D-Calif.), Sydney Kamlager-Dove (D-Calif.), Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), Jan Schakowsky (D-Ill.), Earl Blumenauer (D-Ore.), Kathy Castor (D-Fla.), Jared Huffman (D-Calif.), and Jill Tokuda (D-Hawaii).
Rebecca Goodstein, Patagonia's senior retail environmental activism manager said:
"We need a national revolution around quality, backed by policies and legislation that prioritize the most sustainable raw materials and best manufacturing practices. That’s why my colleagues and I are excited about the launch of this caucus and its goals to strengthen public awareness and encourage textile sustainability."
Stay Curious... Who are we?
