🌱Hemp to the rescue, again The U.S. Food and Drug Administration announced on January 4 that it has approved the IND (Investigational New Drug) application by ANANDA Scientific, a biotech pharma company based in Colorado. The approval allows for CBD (cannabidiol) to be clinically tested for the treatment of OUD (Opioid Use Disorder). CBD comes from the cannabis sativa plant, aka hemp plant.
Nantheia™ ATL5, is the name of the new IUD. ANANDA Scientific will perform the clinical trial at the Semel Institute for Neuroscience and Human Behavior at UCLA, alongside a team of UCLA medical scientists. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) is funding the trial. According to the CDC, "Overdose deaths involving opioids including heroin, prescription opioids, and synthetic opioids, such as fentanyl, have increased more than 6 times since 1999".

🌿Medical cannabis win in Mississippi Mississippi is finally on its way to legalizing medical cannabis. Senate Bill 2095 will allow a patient with a cannabis prescription to obtain up to 3.5 grams of cannabis per day. The over 400 page bill sets taxes on the production and sale of cannabis, amongst many other business regulations. State Senator Kevin Blackwell moved the motion by describing that medical cannabis legalization will favor patients with debilitating medical conditions such as cancer, AIDS, and sickle cell anemia.
Senate Bill 2095 passed the 52-member Senate with strong bipartisan support. Only five senators voted against it. The House also approved the bill and it was sent to Republican Governor Tate Reeves. He is expected to sign the bill that 69% of Mississippians want.

👾Capturing the young for the Metaverse Roblox, the California based video game behemoth has created a series of educational programs for teachers and students at the elementary to university level over the years.
It now plans to bring educational video games to classrooms worldwide. Lead The Way will release a program to help students explore careers and concepts in computer science, engineering, and biomedical science.
The programs should be available in schools for spring of 2022.
