👍Gila River solar project How to protect water supplies is a global concern. In Maricopa County, Arizona, a fresh solution is being introduced. The Gila River Indian Community has agreed to work with the U.S. Army of Engineers to build solar panels over irrigation canals.
It is designed to conserve water in the Gila River by minimizing evaporation, while producing clean, renewable energy. This is the first project to install solar panels over canal water in the U.S, and construction will be completed by Q4 of 2025. California has explored covering the California aqueduct with solar panels also, but has yet to approve such a project.
✈️Virgin Atlantic sets a record Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) is going to help the air transportation and airline industries take greater responsibility of their GHG emissions. Last week Virgin Atlantic Airlines successfully flew a plane from London to NYC using 100% SAF. While others airlines have used SAF, they have yet to use 100% SAF, and never at this distance.
These fuels are produced using waste fats from plants and animals and sugar-based kerosene. They are not 100% emission free, but they are a giant improvement from fossil fuels. They can also be used in existing airplanes, without engine modification. Right now, supplies are low for this nascent industry.
🏃♀️Michigan leans forward Called SB 271, the legislation was signed into law by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer on Nov 28. Experts consider it to be one of the most ambitious clean energy bills in the country.
Michigoans will be taking responsibility for their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions with the state energy targets set forth in the legislation and they are some of the most dramatic in the U.S. with the mandate of 100% carbon-free energy over the next 16 years. SB271 will come into effect February 27, 2024.

❓Does BlackRock want ETH ETF BlackRock is the world's largest fund manager. Last week the finance giant filed an application to offer an exchange-traded fund (ETF) based on the cryptocurrency, ethereum (ETH). This is a first of many steps that will be required to get approval from the SEC.
It looks like BlackRock is following the same pattern it used to its bitcoin (BTC) spot bitcoin ETF application.
🚫Wrong is wrong Same tagline as last week's newsletter, and now it applies to Google. When did individuals and companies decide it's not illegal to break the law? Withholding or deleting evidence is criminal. The crime under federal law may face a prison sentence of up to 20 years, a fine, or both. (18 U.S.C. § 1519.) In some states, tampering with evidence is a felony offense.
The dictionary definition of "obstruction of justice" is the following: it is the crime or act of willfully interfering with the process of justice and law especially by influencing, threatening, harming, or impeding a witness, potential witness, juror, or judicial or legal officer or by furnishing false information in or otherwise impeding an investigation or legal process. Leadership and employees of Google.
Leadership and employees at Google were fully aware that they were legally obligated to save and preserve relevant materials and evidence. Yet, the tech giant used auto delete to systemically delete important evidence in the lawsuit with Epic.
