❓WTH is IOTA? Some might correctly answer, it's the 9th letter of the Greek alphabet. Or a very, very small amount. But IOTA now has another meaning: it is a platform to facilitate transactions. The IOTA platform has a cryptocurrency token called MIOTA.
Because our lives are fully integrated with machine devices such as cell phones, computers, TVs, and now cars, refrigerators... pretty much every damn thing, we should understand how this "stuff" works. Well at least we can know what the names mean, that's a start. Founders say the cryptocurrency could become significant for global trade and pave the way for cutting-edge Smart Cities in the future. It sounds like a cryptocurrency to consider!

🌲California farmers markets to sell cannabis California may allow consumers to buy cannabis directly from cultivators at farmers' markets. The state’s Assembly Committee has passed the bill looking to make that happen. The new cannabis bill will allow small cultivators to sell their products to consumers at eight cannabis farmers' markets a year to help them deal with times of financial difficulties, one of which they currently face.
California cannabis farmers have been facing financial difficulties since last June, when the prices of their products started falling. They witnessed the worst price drop on April 15, according to Cannabis Benchmarks. First, however, it will have to pass through the Assembly Appropriations Committee and the full Assembly Chamber and up to the Governor’s desk to become a law.
🚅Go to Japan and ride that train Japan, the sixth-biggest carbon emitter worldwide, has been joyful since April 1 over the decision by one of its major railway operators to end CO2 emissions across its stations. Tokyu, which has seven train lines and one tram service connecting Tokyo and Yakahoma, now powers its trains and infrastructures with 100% renewable energy from the sun, wind, and geothermal.
Tokyu serves about 2.2 million passengers each day. The company said the CO2 reduction is equivalent to the annual average emissions of 56,000 Japanese households. The accomplishment also marks an important milestone in Japan’s goal of becoming carbon-neutral by 2050.
👍Batting a thousand Petaluma in northern California has been a front runner in the fight against climate change. It was the first city in the US to ban the construction of new gas stations within its limits. It was also one of three winners in the $1 million grant initiative organized by the non-profit Empowerment Institute for 40 Californian cities. The two other winners were Los Angeles and Irvine.
The Cool Cities Challenge aimed to encourage cities’ participation in the race to achieve carbon neutrality in California by 2030. Empowerment Institute asked the participants to recruit a team of 25 community partner organizations and 200 block leaders to create a Climate Moonshot Strategy, including urging their councils to pass resolutions committing to California’s climate goal.
