🪨Another crypto milestone Last week it happened. The SEC approved spot ETF (Exchange Trade Funds) for the crypto currency, Ethereum. Over the years, AGREEN1was been sharing the cryptocurrency development with its readers. The SEC will also allow for Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) ETPs (Exchange Traded Product) shares.
To clarily, ETFs are funds that are traded on stock exchanges. Spot ETFs enable investors to have access to buy and sell stock without needing to hold the asset itself. Spot ETPsinvest directly into the asset. As of today, spot ETFs and spot ETPs have been approved by the SEC for cryptocurrencies Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH).
🍁Another city uses hemp for toxic clean up In the city of Antwerp, Belgium, which dates back to the 4th Century, the fire department has a toxic chemical problem. Fo years, firefighting foam has contaminated the soil with PFAS. Recall that PFAS are per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, aka Forever Chemicals, which are a group of man-made chemicals with a strong bond between fluorine and carbon.
In the pilot program, the hemp plants will remove significant amounts of PFAS from the soil. Then, the contaminated parts of the plant can be separated and destroyed, while the rest of the plant can still be used as raw material. Belgium has a circular economy, which is a zero waste lifecycle for all products.
🪙Bitcoin "halved" in April The supply of bitcoin is 21 million coins in total, ever. Currently, there are 19 million, so nearing the cap. Halving occurs when 210,000 blockchains are created by miners with computers solving complex math equations. When halving occurs, the miners get less free bitcoins for their correct computations.
In the beginning, when bitcoin started, in 2009, miners received 50 tokens for a solved equation. With this latest halving, miners now receive 3.125 tokens. At the next halving, they will receive only 1.5625 tokens. Right now, BTC USD is at $69.9K.
