🥼Pfizer wants cannabis In December 2021, Pfizer acquired Arena Pharmaceuticals. We know Pfizer as the American multinational pharmaceutical and biotechnology corporation. Arena is a clinical-stage biotech company developing a cannabis-derived pain relief medicine for gastrointestinal disorders. The acquisition confirmed Pfizer's interest in the medical cannabis industry. In addition, Pfizer believes the acquisition will complement its expertise in Inflammation and Immunology.
Pfizer acquired Arena Pharmaceuticals for an equity value of about $6.7 billion.
🎢More medical cannabis in Ohio State lawmakers believe it is time to expand the market to meet the growing needs of patients and the healthcare sector. On December 15, the state Senate approved a bill proposed by Rep. Steve Huffman to increase the number of dispensary licenses, permit cultivators to expand their operations, and allow physicians to recommend cannabis to any medical condition that requires pain relief.
The bill also aims to move the regulation of medical cannabis dispensaries from the Pharmacy Board to a new Division of Marijuana Control in the Department of Commerce. The Senate has now sent the bill to the House of Representatives for further approval.
🌿Cannabis remediates soil in Maine Cannabis continues to prove its usefulness across different fields, ranging from health and medicine to textile and construction and now phytoremediation. Before the 1970 there was no Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); this allowed companies, the military and even agriculture to dump unbelievable amounts of toxic chemicals on land and in our waters. Today, cannabis is coming to the rescue.
A group of researchers, members of the native Micmac Nation in Maine, Upland Grassroots, and scientists in Connecticut and Virginia recently discovered that industrial hemp can remove PFOS and PFAS (known generally as Forever Chemicals). The chemicals pose health risks in humans and other living bodies. Sadly they are abundant in the soil at the former Loring Air Force Base in Maine, which is now the Micmac Nation. So far, Maine’s Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has identified 34 municipalities for sampling between 2022 and 2023. Wishing them all the best and AGREEN1 will follow this story as it develops.

📸The Associated Press selling NFTs The American news agency Associated Press(AP) has news for NFT photography collectors. It is listing its award-winning contemporary and historic photojournalism for sale on its NFT marketplace, built by blockchain technology provider Xooa, and launching alongside the first NFT collection on January 31.
The first collection will comprise events AP's photojournalists captured over its 176 years, including Pulitzer Prize-winning images, such as the photo of a Jewish settler challenging Israeli security officers in the West Bank settlement of Amona on February 1, 2006.
